I think that there’s lots of people out there who are thinking of buying a tennis ball machine. I just wanted to get your advice on which are the best machines to buy for different (sort of) uses and needs. Well quite simply, Tim, you can get many ball machines and most of them today are very good, but I go back to the days when they weren’t always consistent in what they did. In other words, I’d set an exercise with my players to hit the ball back, and every now and again it would miss a projection. So three balls would come out regular and then it wouldn’t come out the next time. It would come out the time after. So regularity is the thing you should be looking for with a ball machine. That when you set your task you don’t have to stop half way through and things like that. I used to set tasks where they got more and more tired in getting to the ball, because we worked a system of movement with it and therefore if they knew instinctively they were going to be late and so they had to hurry, or they could pace it. But what they couldn’t do was beat the ball machine. The ball machine never got tired – it ran out of balls occasionally... Next Part: |
