But do think that... I mean they’re getting progressively more and more realistic. I mean they’re trying to simulate a real game aren’t they? I mean some of them are getting pretty close these days. But do think that they will ever actually get to the point to where they can, you know, hit a Federer first serve, and that sort of thing? Or even maintain a realistic rally with drop shots and the rest of it?

Well I don’t know whether it’s been thought about you see but really what you ought to have is a magic eye... the only way I can see it being really good is if the machine stops and starts according to certain things. And that is that when it’s meant to serve, ok?, if the ball was slightly irregular coming out and it came hard one time and a little less hard, it might serve a double fault. And if it served a double fault, if it was monitored by an ‘eye’ at one end which linked back to the machine. It would be different...

So it’s got to be linked in with Hawk Eye and...

Yeah that’s right. A Hawk Eye type thing you see. And then you’d be getting even better you see.

Yeah. It might be costing a million pounds... or even more.

Oh, well that’s the point. That sophistication isn’t necessarily what you’re trying to get, you see. That would mean that somebody would get a ball machine and never ever play a game of tennis against a person. And that isn’t really what’s it’s all about.
